Default Prolly Not 24

After a good night's sleep I guess the photo shows only 33 teeth. The angle of the shot and the arrow make a clear count hard.

In any case, although the diametral pitch will be different as Holescreek pointed out, I'd bet the worm has worn enough to make the difference moot. Then again, I've never been one to allow details like this to stand in the way of trying something. There is doing it right and there is doing it so it works.

The fact is, the number of teeth probably doesn't matter much. At worst, if it fits, it will just slow your saw down a little bit.
I agree. If it were my saw I'd buy the 24 tooth gear and run with it. My calculations don't show much interference at all, and taking the wear on the worm into account it would probably work fine. The replacement gear would need the center hole opened up a bit and a keyway broached to be ready to install.

Based on the data I came up with I'd be surprised if it wasn't supposed to have 24 teeth to begin with. That could be why it wore out so fast.

I finally found convincing evidence here(http://alkeehall-labs.com/bandsaw.html )I could order a gear set for the latest model Harbor Freight saw with a 23 tooth gear.
Thanks to all hear and all the yahoos at the 4x6 Band Saw yahoo group.

Here are a couple more links for any one who might be interested in one of these small saws.

I learned the hard way you should change out the gear oil first thing.
